The San Antonio Scrabble club #489 was founded in 1996 by Matt DeWaelsche and Chris Lennon.
The current club director is Matt DeWaelsche who has competitively played Scrabble since 1985. He has competed in over 20 national tournaments and was inducted into the Texas Scrabble Hall of Fame in 2010.
We have approximately 11 active players and another 5 or 6 players who visit every once in a while. Most nights we have 6-10 players of varying competitive levels.
Games are played tournament-style, one to one and played with clocks if available. If you're new to tournament style play, we will provide instruction and playing tips to help you. Don't worry, we won't put you on the clock until you're ready!
Feel free stop in any Thursday evening at 6:30.
If you would like more information, you can fill out the contact form or contact Matt DeWaelsche directly at 210-848-6434.
